Christie Burke's Infinite Booklist

In which I explain what I’m trying to do June 4, 2009

I could point out here that every kid has some book out there that’s the right book for him or her, and it’s a delicate proposition to help the kids find the books (especially when, for whatever reason, the kids are intimidated by books and reading). I could make note of the fact that I am buying sports books and Westerns (!) in multiples for my library, in addition to not-too-long “quick reads,” because I’m flooded with requests for materials like that. I could note that manga is Perfectly Legitimate Reading Material, even if it is not to your taste.  There are a lot of things I could say about books and reading and underserved populations and the fact that reading isn’t at all dead in the age of the interwebs.

All those things (that I could say) are true. But what you really need to know is this: I’m a librarian in a high school. I read a lot. And sometimes I find it hard to keep track of my “done” books. You’re welcome to enjoy this site. I hope you do. But really, I’m mostly just trying to make a list. 🙂
